The Akron Section will celebrate National Chemistry Week by hosting a group for a viewing of the ACS Webinar Voyage to Mars: Red Planet Chemistry. The group will learn about the chemistry of Mars from a panel of scientists who will share their knowledge about space travel, materials chemistry, astrochemistry, biochemistry and more. Expert scientists on the panel include Kirsten Siebach, Assistant Professor, Rice University Department of Earth, Environmental, and Planetary Sciences, Mark Blenner, McQueen-Quattlebaum Associate Professor, Clemson University, Mary Ann Meador, Senior Research Scientist, NASA Glenn Research Center, Michael Meador, Program Element Manager for Lightweight Materials and Manufacturing NASA’s Game Changing Technologies Program, Brett A. McGuire, Hubble Fellow, National Radio Astronomy Observatory and Susanna Widicus Weaver, Associate Professor and Director of Graduate Studies, Department of Chemistry, Emory University.
The webinar viewing will take place in the Pritchard Room in the Hiram College Library. Pizza and snacks will be available at 6:00 PM. The webinar begins at 6:45 PM. Reservations are not required.
